PRESENT_ PAST_ UTOPIA
Wir nehmen wahr, dass die heutige Welt nicht die einzig mögliche Welt ist und blicken in die Vergangenheit. In unserem Konzept der Nostalgie werden wir uns der Fragestellung bewusst: wann war früher? Wir wählen Zeitabschnitte aus. Dabei sehen wir, dass die Welt früher anders war und auch andere Dinge möglich waren.
Wir nutzen dazu ein produktiv kritisches Moment, das der Nostalgie innewohnt. Nostalgie bietet uns die Möglichkeit eine andere, alternative, neu gedachte Welt zu erschaffen. In diesem Sinne stellt sich unsere Nostalgie als Utopie dar. Nostalgische Inspirationen sind in diesem Zusammenhang niemals konservativ, wir nutzen das kreative und kritische Potenzial, dass in diesem Begriff steckt für unsere kreative Arbeit.
Damit zeigt sich Nostalgie als Antithese zu dem in unserer Gegenwart vorherrschenden Präsentismus. Präsentismus beschreibt eine breite Gegenwart, in der zeitgenössische und historische Phänomene parallel gelebt und gedacht werden. Im Präsentismus enthält unsere Gegenwart alle Vergangenheiten und lässt keine Chronologien mehr zu. Es entsteht die Gleichzeitigkeit aller Stilelemente.
Nostalgie bedient sich dabei fiktiver Elemente. Wir wissen, dass niemand Vergangenheit in ihrer gesamten Bandbreite erinnern und wiedergeben kann. Bei unseren nostalgischen Blicken zurück selektieren wir und bedienen uns fiktionalen und narrativen Verzerrungen. Wir laden die Vergangenheit emotional auf. Es geht also nicht um die faktische Wiedergabe der Vergangenheit. Sondern vielmehr um unseren heutigen Blick auf die Vergangenheit und wie wir heute Vergangenheit erzählen. Somit hat Nostalgie starke fiktionale und narrative Elemente.
Die Fiktion der Vergangenheit sagt etwas über unsere Gegenwart aus. Die Gegenwart ist immer der Ausgangspunkt für alle Überlegungen über Vergangenheit und Zukunft.
Nostalgie hat ein starkes kreatives Potenzial. Mit Inspirationen aus der Vergangenheit kreieren wir etwas Neues, wie erfinden die Zukunft! Mit dem popkulturellen Spiel von Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft lassen wir neue, noch nie so dagewesene Stile entstehen.

We perceive that today’s world is not the only possible world and look into the past. In our concept of nostalgia we become aware of the question: when was before? We choose periods of time. In doing so, we see that the world was different in the past and that other things were possible.
We use a productive critical moment inherent in nostalgia for this purpose. Nostalgia offers us the possibility of creating a different, alternative, reimagined world. In this sense, our nostalgia presents itself as utopia. Nostalgic inspirations are never conservative in this context, we use the creative and critical potential that lies in this term for our creative work.
Thus, nostalgia shows itself as an antithesis to the presentism that is prevalent in our present. Präsentism describes a broad present in which contemporary and historical phenomena are lived and thought in parallel. In presentism, our present contains all pasts and no longer allows for chronologies. The simultaneity of all stylistic elements emerges.
Nostalgia makes use of fictitious elements. We know that no one can remember and reproduce the past in its entirety. In our nostalgic looks back, we select and make use of fictional and narrative distortions. We charge the past emotionally. So it is not about the factual reproduction of the past. Rather, it is about how we look at the past today and how we narrate the past today. Thus, nostalgia has strong fictional and narrative elements.
The fiction of the past says something about our present. The present is always the starting point for all reflections on the past and the future.
Nostalgia has strong creative potential. With inspirations from the past we create something new, like inventing the future! With the pop cultural play of past, present and future we let new, never before seen styles emerge.
